We're located near Boston, in eastern Massachusetts, USA (USDA hardiness zone 6). I'm a biochemist and I garden as a hobby.

Skippy is an 8 year old Portuguese water dog. He has very soft wavy black fur and a fantastic personality. He's a great gardening companion, even though he doesn't do any of the work. And, we now have a puppy, Suzie, who looks just like Skippy.

I've been growing a kitchen vegetable garden for many years now in a space next to my house. The space here is quite small (365 sq ft), and, as the years have gone by and the trees grown, its become quite shady.

Five years ago, I was excited to get a fantastic sunny community garden plot! Community gardening has been a whole new adventure for me. I now have lots of sunny garden space and I'm growing lots more vegetables. Plus I'm enjoying participating in a community gardening project and have been the garden Coordinator for the past four years.

I have to admit that I garden mostly because I think vegetable gardens are beautiful. I love rows of seedlings, patchworks of greens, baskets of bright vegetables. I love the way gardens change with the seasons. My camera is my most important gardening tool.

This blog is a way to record what's going on in my garden, to get advice from other gardeners and hopefully to inspire new gardeners. I am very enthusiastic about my hobby and love to share the experience of vegetable gardening. Skippy and Suzie and I have lots of fun in the garden.kathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10947233901412406068noreply@blogger.com
